Description
It’s October 2020. Lockdown continues and our October birthdays approach and another milestone home alone. The roses are blooming, flowers abound from our garden and from gifts. Albertine’s renovation is looking very successful and between birthdays a magpie lands on one of Albertine’s oldest canes (30 years old a gift from friends and still going strong). It must have loved its new lease of light! I decide on a collage to mark the birthdays. I built the collage from a bold Chicago Peace Rose bloom, the Magpie singing on the Albertine cane, a birthday gift of flowers all backdropped by a bloom of Foxgloves and Native bushland.
Nature gives and Nature takes away. We must attune ourselves to improving our soils, our land and leaving a good legacy for those that come next. This is our way of giving thanks to nature for the gifts she gives to us.
I painted this version in close to original colours.
